Crossed Wires - Profile of Allison Mack


Plotline

Crossed Wires premiered on Friday, May 22nd to a completely sold out house! Based on the e e cummings poem "somewhere I have never travelled, gladly beyond," Crossed Wires incorporates original music, choreography, text, visual art, and multi-lingual live performance by a company of artists who collaborated from their individual homes in Philadelphia, Vancouver, Dallas, London, Louisville, and Los Angeles.

Company members received creative challenges for their field of specialty over the course offour months, and built upon one anoter's work via phone, email, and web. All of the artists met each other for the first time in Prague one week before the start of the festival. From the living room of their three bedroom flat all ten artists embarked on the ultimate challenge of creativity, communication and passion. Through the course of a grueling six-day rehearsal perio the entire company collaborated to create a final performance which is taking audiences on a journey of the human soul.

Review

Iris Theatre's piece, Crossed Wires, is inspired by the e.e. cummings poem "somewhere I have travelled, gladly beyond," which contains one of cummings' finest lines, "nobody, not even the rain, has such small hands." Like the poem, there is a beauty and fragility to this little symbolist play, which, only occasionally, strikes one as perhaps a bit simplistic.
